Ludovica Carini obtained a master's degree in Politics for International Cooperation for Development at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan with a dissertation focused on migration issues. She currently is a third-year PhD student in Sociology, Organisations and Cultures at Università Cattolica. Her research interests include consumption and cultural industries, creolization, sustainability, proximity networks and neighbourhood economies. Her doctoral research concerns the contribution of Afro-descendant designers to the Italian fashion system, and in particular cultural hybridization, acculturation, and the role of personal ties in the construction of micro-economies with a high concentration of creative capital.
