Ludovica Carini is a researcher at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, where she collaborates with the ModaCult research centre. At the Università Cattolica she obtained a Master's degree in Politics for International Cooperation for Development and is a PhD Candidate in Sociology, Organisations and Cultures. Her doctoral research concerns the contribution of Afro-descendant designers to the Italian fashion system and, in particular, the issues of acculturation, creolisation and the role of personal ties in the construction of micro-economies with a high concentration of creative capital. Her research interests include consumption and cultural industries, fashion&food synergies, cultural hybridisation, sustainability, networks and proximity economies.
