Simone Cipriani is a visionary leader with experience in the private sector and the United Nations system, specializing in sustainability and circularity in fashion. He has played a pivotal role in transforming the industry to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN General Principles on Business and Human rights (UNGPs), and OECD principles on responsible business. His expertise spans supply chain sustainability, human rights, environmental responsibility, and international sustainability legislation. Notably, he contributed to global standardization as a member of the Global reporting Initiative (GRI) working group for textiles and apparel.
Currently, Cipriani is Dean at Milano Fashion Institute, shaping the next generation of fashion leaders. He is also a Fellow at the Retech Centre, École des Ponts Paris, and professeur vacataire at Sciences Po.
He has served as Chair of the UN Alliance for Sustainable Fashion Secretariat. he created and led the Ethical Fashion Initiative, a UN program fostering sustainable supply chains and promoting human rights in fashion. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing decarbonization, circularity, and ethical sourcing in the global fashion industry.
